Sunday morning, Liam and I try our hand at making omelets. Not my best work, but I think it’s edible. The sound of Morgan’s bedroom door clicking open sends Liam rushing to the table to pull out her chair. Good boy.

“All right,” I say, walking toward the bathroom where Liam is busy brushing his teeth. “Let’s get you to bed.”

“Morning,” Morgan mumbles, wiping the sleep from her eyes as she leans against the doorway. “It smells good in here.”

“Thanks! Brant and I made fancy eggs.” Liam giggles.

“Ready for some coffee?” I ask, already pouring her a cup.

“Yes, please, and a plate of your fancy eggs if you don’t mind,” she says, winking at Liam.

“Coming right up.” Filling her plate, I hand it off to Liam who slowly inches his way across the kitchen and over to the table.

“This looks yummy,” Morgan says when Liam places the plate carefully in front of her.

“Eat up!” He grins before racing back to the counter to get his own plate.

After a decent breakfast of omelets and fruit, we decide to spend the rest of the day watching movies together and dozing on the couch. I’d say it’s just what everyone needed after the last few days.

“Bedtime, little guy,” I say ruffling Liam’s hair.

“Aww, but I want to stay up and watch another movie,” he whines.

“You’ve watched a year's worth of movies the last few days. Time for bed. You have school tomorrow.” Morgan holds out her arms and Liam steps into them, giving her a soft hug before heading down the hall to get ready for bed.

“I think I’m going to call it too,” Morgan says, yawning. “Do you mind locking everything up?”

“Of course not,” I say, squeezing her hand. “You go get some rest. I’ve got this.”

Morgan stands and makes her way down the hallway limping and using the crutches for support.
